Career Programs
Chigwell School provides objective career counseling that helps students make informed, independent decisions about their future. The program meets all eight Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring comprehensive support throughout their time here. A qualified career head works within the Sixth Form center, available whenever students need guidance. From Year 12 onward, they gain access to Unifrog, an online platform designed to help them plan what comes after they turn 18.
Specialized Courses
Those considering careers in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary science can join specialized programs available to all sixth formers. These include lectures, practical sessions, and preparation for challenging university interviews—including the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format that medical schools often use.
Students aiming for Oxford or Cambridge receive dedicated support from the Assistant Head of Sixth Form, who arranges tailored sessions and connects them with expert tutors.
Career Guidance at Chigwell School
The school builds career awareness gradually across different year groups. In Years 7-8, students begin exploring professions through sessions within their personal development (PHSE) course. By Year 9, they attend a motivational lecture from the Sixth Form Head, receive guidance on GCSE subject choices, and participate in their first career conference. The following year brings deeper insights through the annual career conference, where Year 10 students meet industry professionals.
Career Preparation in Upper Years
From Year 11, things intensify—A Level choices are paired with career interviews, Unifrog training, and the Sixth Form Open Day. Year 12 students work actively on university applications through UCAS workshops while discovering the ASK apprenticeship program. Their final year brings individual admission consultations, mock interviews for aspiring medics, and a closing career conference.
